Anne Frank Question #7

I think the play reveals about our need for freedom by courage and hope. The courage is the most important thing to survive. In the secret annex, they needed courage to hide. If they didnt have courage when they were hiding, they would probably give up and go outside before they would get into more trouble. THey need hope when they were in the secret annex. Even though, they coudnt hear a lot of news from outside, they had to have hope to have the main reason that they were hiding in the secret annex. If they didnt have hope, they could have suicide or just give up because they would have thought the Nazis took over the whole country and they will think eventually, they will find us and kill us so, they had to have hope to survive and hide.

Anne Frank Question #6

There are so many books, movies, documentsaires, etc. about the Holocaust because it was a period of time that many people suffered and the memory still exists. We keep retelling the strory on and on because we don't want it to happen again in the future such as Nazis hating Jews or even wars that has prejudice in it. It is terrible to hear about but we need to keep telling to the generations to generations and make sure that it does not happen again later.

Anne Frank Question #5 (five questions) A~E

a. Act 1: I agree with this statement and I think Mr.Frank is telling Anne that there are no such idea that can block you from writing and block her way from her way for her goal. Even though she is Jew, and she has enemy like Nazis, I think she could write her goal down on the diary and achieve her goal by writing down. She has potential to think and make idea to write it down on her diary so, even though there are enemies of her, she could always put something on her mind and it never stops.
b. Act 1, Scene 1-3: I think the hardest part to be in secret annex is that you need to keep quite and cant go to bathroom in the day. Also, Anne is a young girl that likes to play outside and shes in her life time when she has to play outside. I cant imagine that I need to stay in bed for 8hours after I woke up even though no ones there. Thats why its hard to keep quiet.
c. Act 1, Scene 1-3: I think they do have teenage attitude against them. In pg. 382 Anne said to Mrs.Frank, "who caresif it's dignified? i dont want to be dignified." She's acting rude to her mother and she doesnt respect mother's order. Also, Mrs. Van Daan said to Peter, "Now is that anyway to talk to your little girlfriend?" and Peter replied, "Mother... for heaven's sake.... will you please stop saying that?" this means that he is shy and he is showing that he is acting like a teenager.
d. Act 1, Scene 1-3: There were a lot of conflicts in the scene 1~3. 1) Mr.Dussel and Anne doesn't seem to get along each other. Ex. They use the same room together but their personality doesn't match and they always get into a conflict because of it. 2) Mr.Dussel is pretending to have an allergy on fur. Ex. Mr.Dussel is pretending to have an allergy on fur and he doesnt want the cat to be near him, so Peter is having hard time to stay and get along with Mr.Dussel. 3)Mr.Dussel came into the secret Annex and he eats. Ex. In the secret annex, they have limited food to eat and also, they have a lot of people in first place so, they coudnt offer another person to eat but Mr.Dussel had to eat so, they are getting into trouble. 4) No space Ex. Mr.Dussel came in the secret annex so, they dont have left over space to play around as much as the past.
e. When Anne's nightmare was over, Mrs.Frank went to Anne and comforted her. But when she was comforting her, Mr.Dussel was very angry at Anne because she was screaming in the silent. Mr.Dussel didn't understand about the child and he was not getting along with the mood in the secret annex either. Mrs.Frank and Mr.Dussel is in conflict because of Anne. Mrs.Frank said to Mr.Dussel that she wasnt trained like an army, she was just a 13 years old girl. Then, Mr.Dussel went to w.c for a peace with his anger in him.

Anne Frank Question #4 b) irony

I think Mr.Frank wants to tell that outside world can kill her when Anne said she wants to go visit her friends or ride bike. Mr.Frank didnt scare her by giving examples of being in danger and die but he told her that there was no problem to go have a ride. THats why it is ironic. THe outside world was bombing and bursting but she said she wants to ride bike so, he made a statement opposite to the outside world and agreeing with Anne.

Anne Frank Question #3

I think author wants to tell us that dictating is bad thing to do. In the drama, they are comparing Jews and them. THe Nazis are thinking that they are the one that are always right about jews and they dont know the good side of Jews.

Anne Frank Question #2

Prejudice is an unfavorable idea that it is juged before you even know about it. KKK is one of the examples happening in the world. KKK is white extremists that are prejudice against black; and the relationship between white and black got worse and black people are scared of KKK because they will persecute and kill them. I think prejudice makes the relationship worse and everything bad. Another example from past was from Germany. Nazi party. They were against the Jews but they didnt know a lot about Jews. They just thought about the bad things about them. This is prejudice too. and the relationship became worse between Nazi Party and the Jews.

Anne Frank Question #1

I don't really know about Holocaust and I had no interest in it but as im reading the drama "Anne Frank's diary" I got some of my attention to a word holocaust. I know it was in WW2 and it is something to do with concentration camp from Nazi. Nazi is like a party that thinks Jews are bad and they persecute them. I know that Holocaust was a serious thing to everyone and it was a terrible thing to be happened.

So Far From the Bamboo Grove

Now I've finished this book and the ending of the book is very dramatic. Hideyo and Yoko + Ko finally met together in the train station but in the end
they said that father died before meeting Yoko and Ko. Yoko and Ko was having a hard life but a fun life in the station by going to school , meeting new people that can help them and also, celebrating the NEW YEAR PARTY. But before Ko came from school, mother died from shock and tireness that she had during the trip to the grandmother's house.
I liked this book a lot because it was looking from Japan's perspective not in Korean. We always looked in Korean perspective because we were Korean and we thought that we were the only one that had bad situations but it wasnt like that. Japan had a lot of hardships in foreign countries and I know that now.

So Far From the Bamboo Grove

The story went into another problem. Their mother has passsed away in Japan station after coming back from grandmother's home. However, Yoko and Ko didn't just give up everything. Yoko figured out something from mother's habit. She got money from Korea and she kept it secret. So, Yoko and Ko decided not to use that money. Yoko and Ko was still attending school. The war was over now, but the country wasn't in the peaceful mode so, they had to be careful of people such as drunken people because of the celebration of the war's end and the soldiers that want to come back and fight more. So, they lived without peace and they waited for Hideyo and father to come.

So Far From the Bamboo Grove

The book is getting more dramatic and unrealistic even though it is a non-fiction story. The story flows like a fiction story such as having suffer and then getting help from people directly. One part is the part that they meet the korean communist army soldiers and they escaped because the bomb came when the soldires were going to attack their group. The setting of the book is changing several times during the book. It is now, Japan station. They have to go to school for their education and they have to get food from garbages and other rich people. Even though they are having hard time, they are trying to overcome the fear about the strangers, their future and etc... The book is getting into falling action and the things are getting positive.

So far from the bamboo grove

The book is getting more interesting! The group of Yoko, Ko and mother gets into a problem in the train. The patients are sick and they dont have anything to eat so, Yoko's group gives them some food to eat. Yoko is learning more about life now and Ko and mother is helping her to adapt to the environment. Ko and mother is getting stressed but Yoko is too young to have this adventure. After meeting, Coporal Matsumura, Yoko is closer to him and she likes him better now. I hope they get into a better situation where they could get more food and water to live.

So Far Away From The Bamboo Grove

So far away from the bamboo grove is a book that shows the end of the WW2 and the hardships that the people had it. The main character Yoko is a very little girl following her mom and honorable sister to the adventure to other places such as Seoul and Japan. They had to move from their house because of the bombing and dangerous things that were happening in Korea. Even though they were japanese they lived in Korea until their honorable father come back. Yoko, Ko, and their mom meets a lot of difficulties during the adventure and the theme of the book was to see the hardships that people had during and after the WW2.

Secret (Love secret)

I think I am a person that can't keep my inside feeling by myself. OK!
One day in 7th grade, I liked one girl and I was going to keep this secret for the whole year but it didn't work because of my personality. I can't keep anything in my heart by myself and I always express that feelings on my face or whatever way that I could express with. I kept the secret for about 3 weeks but I kept it because I was embarassed to tell people that I liked that person and if I tell to them, eventually she will know that I liked her so, I was worried about that. My secret was finally spreaded because my face and my actions were showing that I liked her! haha

Courage (Parents Fighting)

One day in this year, my dad and my mom was fighting in house for somekind of money problem. I was listening to it in my room concerning about them. When I thought the fight between parents were getting worse, I went to them to stop it. I was really scared at first because I never did this in my whole life and I never went against my parents, but I made a decision that I had to do this. So, I went up to them and shouted front of my dad. The first time I did that, they didn't stop argueing but when I did it again, they said that they felt sorry. I think that was the most courageous time because I never had many dangerous time in my life, but if I had it I would have more of these problems to talk about.
